New algorithms take a greater number of factors into account, producing smoother, more natural reverbs. A versatile high performance audio engine that gives you total control over your sound The Tyros5 is capable of playing back and recording audio files (including performances using Audio Styles), and also possesses a range of audio manipulation features you can use to create 'karaoke' style 'minus one' tracks in the key and tempo of your choice. Vocal cancel A powerful Vocal Cancel function effectively cancels or suppresses signals like vocals and solos that play a central role in an audio file, allowing you to make your own 'minus one' track and sing 'karaoke' style with just instrumental backing. New Design The Tyros5 features a metallic silver body (titanium finish) that looks as if it were chiseled out of metal, giving it an exclusive, high-tech feel. We've also given attention to the button operations and knob positions, so that people who are already familiar with Tyros can operate the new model freely and without worries.

Comments about Yamaha Tyros5 76-Key Arranger Workstation: Sound can be very objective and there are lots of manufacturers claiming to have the 'ultimate ' keyboard. I have been fortunate enough to play a lot of different keyboards and in fairness most of the respected companies make great boards.

I enjoy my Kurzweils and Korg's but if I were to keep only one instrument it's the Yamaha Tyros 5-76. It does most things spot on and even it's weaker points are still rather acceptable. First off, unless you plan on using massive Virtual sound libraries there is nothing that matches the Yamaha for acoustic emulations that are truly playable. And for a lot of people, playing is what an instrument is all about. If you take the time to explore and discover the nuances of the various acoustic voices, listeners will be hard pressed to realize its from a keyboard.
This is not to say the Yamaha is weak in the ' Synth' sounds. It certainly holds its own, although working with the synth voices is not as intuitive as some others. It has great pads and presets that can be tweaked to your hearts content. The styles are plentiful, well thought out and make great use of the mega voices. Whether for live playing or helping create a groove for songwriting they can certainly provide inspiration, ideas and downright fun to musicians of all calibers.
At this price there's a lot of great instruments out there. But you'll be hard pressed to find a better sounding more versatile one than this. Give it a try! Comments about Yamaha Tyros5 76-Key Arranger Workstation: Don't get me wrong, you will never regret having bought Tyros 5, and you will enjoy every time you get to play on it. Very punchy sound, modern and classic styles and sounds that will cover 99% of everyone's needs on stage or in studio.
Awesome inspirational tool for your musical ideas. Rugged build. Big screen (not touch sensitive unfortunately). I'm writing this review after living and working with it for more than 2 years now, and I can say that for me personally, the biggest update of them all was the 76 key version, and never owned any of the previous Tyros versions just because of that same reason.
I've been working with my old and trusty 9000 Pro since it's initial release until 2012, which I still keep it, and I also owned the Tyros 5's equivalent arranger from other 4 letter brand that starts with K. Stepping back to Yamaha from K, was an instant eye opener, and got me back in my waters where everything had sense, and I had the ease-of-use back.
Although the K had it's Pros in certain areas where Yamaha is weak, the difference between those two arrangers in my opinion is rather great, and Tyros 5 has quite some legs over the competition in general. After the initial thrill of getting the latest and greatest from Yamaha in my hands, as I was getting accustomed to the instrument, was and still is a bit of a roller coaster of feelings. I was finding too much similarities as I wished to find with my 20 year old 9000 Pro, which is part a good thing, but at the same time it wasn't good at all.

The sequencer and the style editor where still untouched, no progress has been made in this direction through all these years of development, which is very pity. The sound editor was gone, and now I need a computer in order to do those same changes that I was able to do on my 9000 Pro. And I know PLG boards are dead now, but having separate polyphony on those plug-in sounds was a really convenient thing. There are other areas where I'm not so impressed with Tyros 5.
Comments about Yamaha Tyros5 76-Key Arranger Workstation: I bought this keyboard to replace my Yamaha PSR-A2000 oriental keyboard. The Middle Eastern and Turkish/Balkan expansion packs for Tyros 5 are higher quality and far more realistic than the expansion packs for the PSR-A2000. It was worth the extra thousands of dollars. The keybed quality is more responsive too. It's too bad there is no Indian expansion pack for this keyboard though.
So many of the low end PSR series have Indian styles, rhythms, and sounds. Why not Tyros? The choir voices are really cheesy with over a dozen 'doo-bee-doo' sounds I cringe. The grand piano is also disappointing - nowhere near as good as a Motif XF. Also, the Arabic drum kit is not compatible with the Arabic kit from the PSR-A2000 - you can not expect your imported PSR styles to work without having to revoice everything. Overall, I'm happy with the keyboard and hope that Yamaha will make more world music expansion packs including an Indian one. It'd also be nice to have a dedicated Greek expansion pack.
This fourth-generation Yamaha Tyros 4 retains its ease of use, ergonomic panel layout and playability, and augments it with an even greater and wider variety of Voices, Styles, and sophisticated features, plus the FL512M Flash Memory Expansion Module which stores 512MB of user-loadable samples and Voices in non-volatile, flash memory. Voices You'll hear something different as soon as you play Tyros 4's classical choir Voices: the sound is incredibly natural thanks to Ambient Sampling. For sampling, microphones are normally positioned close to the instrument to capture a direct sound which includes very little of the room's ambiance. For Tyros 4's new classical choirs, the microphone positions were carefully adjusted to capture not only the sound of the choir but also the ambiance of the room, resulting in unprecedented clarity and realism of sound. Together with technologies such as Super Articulation, Tyros 4's pop vocals use Yamaha's latest voicing technology, Wave Cycling, to bring hugely versatile vocal creativity to your performances.
Tyros 4 is packed with different vocal articulations such as Aah, Bah, Bee, Doh etc., and Wave Cycling varies the articulation of the Voice as you play. This means that you can now play incredibly realistic 'shoo-bee-doo-bah' and scat vocals with remarkable ease. Styles The Tyros 4 features a variety of accompaniment and rhythmic backing patterns (called 'Styles') in a variety of different musical genres including pop, jazz, and many others. The Style features Auto Accompaniment, letting you produce automatic accompaniment playback simply by playing 'chords' with your left hand. This lets you automatically recreate the sound of a full band or orchestra”even if you're playing by yourself. Vocal Harmony 2 With Vocal Harmony you can sing along with your own virtual backing vocalists, and Tyros 4's Vocal Harmony feature is such a step forward, Yamaha has given it a new name”VH2. You'll notice the quality from the moment you plug your microphone into the balanced XLR/Jack combination input.
With dedicated DSP effect power, a new preamp and signal processing under the hood, VH2 delivers great sounding Vocal Harmony. Adding up to three harmony vocalists in addition to your own voice and with new pitch recognition and stability controls, you're sure to deliver a dazzling performance. A convenient real-time Mic Level indicator is included in the main display, and a new intuitive graphic user interface makes it easy to experiment with your own mic settings, effects and harmony types. To get you started Tyros 4 includes 44 exciting Vocal Harmony presets, including male, female and SFX settings.
In addition to Vocal Harmony, VH2 features a new Synth Vocoder. This real-time vocal processor uses one of 10 carrier voices together with the microphone signal to create a talking synthesizer effect. Simply sing or talk into the microphone and hear your voice instantly synthesized. A range of versatile presets with effect settings are provided, and you can make detailed parameter adjustments using the new graphic user interface to find your own sound. Music Finder Ever wondered which Style to use for a particular Song? Or which songs are good with a certain Style? Or just enjoy browsing for great Songs to play?
Then the Music Finder was made for you. Music Finder is a database of song titles that are linked to suitable Styles and Registrations.
You can browse through song titles sorted alphabetically, by Style, by Time Signature or Tempo. Just select the Song Title and you're ready to play. You can also search for a specific song by entering search words using a mobile phone style keypad, and create your own Favorites list.
In addition, when you select a Style, just press the Repertoire button in the bottom right of the screen and a list of suggested Songs for that style will appear. There's a huge range of additional Music Finder titles available online with Yamaha's Music Finder+ Internet Direct Connection service. Music Production Create Your Own Songs The built-in 16-track MIDI sequencer allows you to easily record your keyboard performance in real time or use the Step Record feature to enter each note individually. The sequencer also has fine controls for separately entering chord progressions and pattern variations, as well as automatically tightening the timing of your recorded parts. Create Your Own Styles With the versatile Style Creator feature, you can make your own accompaniment Styles”changing the content of existing Styles, creating completely new ones from scratch, or combining various parts from different styles for unusual 'hybrid' accompaniments.
Create Your Own Voices Voice Creator and Voice Set are two powerful features that let you craft your own Voices. With Voice Creator, you can import original audio samples and waveforms, and assign them to the keys”letting you build completely new Voices and Drum Kits with your own sounds.
Make Your Own Audio Recordings No need for separate recording hardware”you can record your keyboard performance as well as your own singing or the sound of other instruments directly to the Tyros 4. The audio is captured to the built-in hard disk drive as digital audio data”with absolutely noise-free audio quality. With computer and audio editing software, you can also edit the sound file as needed, and then re-import it to the Tyros 4. Since the created audio data is saved in WAV file format, you can easily share your performances over the Internet or burn your own original CD. The instrument also supports MP3 data, allowing you to play back files in that popular format. Ease of Use One Touch Setting One Touch Setting (OTS) provides 4 different professionally created registrations for each Style, setting the appropriate voices and effects for playing in that style of music. Simply select a style, then a One Touch Setting and you're ready to sound great.
You can check in advance what's set in each OTS by selecting 'OTS Info' from the Style Select page. With OTS Link selected, OTS changes automatically matching the style section, helping you to create a polished sounding arrangement. Sliders 9 physical sliders are positioned in the center of the instrument. The sliders have a 30mm track and have a carefully crafted shape to ensure smooth, positive and accurate operation.
Great for controlling organ flutes, each slider corresponds to one of the 9 individual organ flute footages, recreating the dynamic excitement of a vintage tonewheel organ. The 8 sliders directly beneath the TFT display can be used to control any setting that appears in the screen as either a knob or slider shape, providing easy adjustment of volume, pan, EQ, effects, tuning etc. The remaining slider can be assigned a special function - from song, style, and harmony volume to microphone reverb depth and vocal harmony balance which means you can always instantly adjust your chosen setting. Score Display Tyros 4 displays the score of the melody track in its extra large high quality TFT screen, and provides features to help you read it like changing the score size, adding the note name, or coloring the different pitches. Even page turns are done automatically.
You can do this with almost any Standard MIDI File (SMF) song.
Yamaha XG MIDI Collection In the mid-90s (1995, 1996, and 1997) Yamaha produced a number of very excellent XG midi files, which were provided as an XG Midi Library for PSR740 owners. The Yamaha site with this XG Midi library is no longer available on the internet, but some of the original batch of files are still available on the current (although you won't find these downloads listed for the most recent keyboards). Thanks to Onacimus Sahayan, however, we can provide you with many of these original XG midi files. Samples from XG Midi Library, The original file names were quite cryptic. However, the midi file itself often has information about the correct song title, the composer, year, and producer.
The 'producer' in these files is listed as 'Yamaha' or 'Yamaha MusicSoft Europe' or 'Groveland Road Productions, ' a company that produced midi files for Yamaha. There are quite a few composers included, and many of these are renowned for their compostions for movies, tv productions and multimedia.
I'm not sure who actually prepared the midi files, but since they are all copyrighted by Yamaha, I've used 'Yamaha' as the 'performer' for these midi files. I have renamed these files with the correct song titles and divided them into three sections. The first includes those midi files that are still available for download from Yamaha (in case you've already downloaded these.) The remainder are divided into those where the composer is provided, organized by composer, and the rest, organized by category. In addition, also thanks to Onacimus who has been able to extract some of the midi songs used as demos on some Yamaha keyboards, we are also providing midi files of those demos. If you want to show off what your keyboard can do, these files may be just what you're looking for.
